HEAVEN: Think On These Things
By: Carl Martin Foreword by E. Lonnie Melashenko
Carl Martin is a wordsmith. An artist, really. When he sent me his preliminary draft for this book on "Heaven" I was eager to lay eyes on the
manuscript. There was a secret reason why I was so intrigued, albeit a somewhat selfish one. I had heard about Carl and his insatiable quest to make it big in Hollywood by writing. Frankly, I couldn't wait
to take the document with me aboard my scheduled airline trip en route to a speaking engagement. As I settled back into my seat, I wondered half aloud, How can someone whose life has changed so
dramatically from sinner to saint handle such a sacred topic like heaven? Can an aspiring Hollywood writer and producer avoid the slick stuff? Will this have the glitzy glitter of sleazy Tinseltown?
Or speak to my heart?
Words have a powerful effect on our lives. And I must tell you that before I immersed myself into the third chapter of the transcripts, Carl's words began
to work on me. I was in for a pleasant journey full of spiritual surprises. "This stuff reads like biblical fiction," I mused half-aloud. Fascinating.
Thrilling insights! Yet carefully and painstakingly researched and backed up with solid Scripture. Its pages read almost like a modern prophet—although Carl would be the first to
vigorously deny any such categorization.
Yet, why not? That is partly what the prophetic gift is all about, isn't it? Prophecy is simply
the practical exposition of Scripture in new and dynamic ways. Timely. Other-worldly. Heavenly.
So stick with this guy, as I did. You will be glad you did. I know you are busy. So was I.
But you will discover that eating blueberry pie à la mode would be sheer punishment (due to lack of flavor) compared with the main course at the wedding feast which chef Jesus has
in mind to serve you. Every believer in Jesus Christ will be challenged and inspired by this powerful, instructive devotional book on the eternal home of the saved.
